To install SurveillizCam Lite, you need to deploy a legacy Windows-based video surveillance application designed to convert basic webcams or video capture cards into a motion-detecting security system.
Because it is an older utility created for legacy operating systems (like Windows 2000 and XP), installation requires careful adherence to compatibility steps. Step 1: Download the Installer
Locate a trusted hosting repository like the Softonic Video Surveillance Directory or Download.it. Look specifically for SurveillizCam Lite (the free tier). Save the executable setup file to your computer.
Step 2: Configure Compatibility Settings (For Modern Windows)
If you are running Windows 10 or Windows 11, the legacy installer may fail or throw errors unless configured for backward compatibility: Right-click on the downloaded setup file. Select Properties from the context menu. Click on the Compatibility tab.
Check the box for “Run this program in compatibility mode for”.
Select Windows XP (Service Pack 3) or Windows 2000 from the drop-down menu.
Check the box at the bottom for “Run this program as an administrator”. Click Apply and then OK. Step 3: Run the Installation Wizard Double-click the installer file to launch the setup.
Click Yes if a User Account Control (UAC) pop-up asks for permission. Accept the software license agreement when prompted.
Choose your installation directory (the default path is typically fine). Click Install and wait for the files to extract. Click Finish to close the installation wizard. Step 4: Hardware and App Configuration
Connect your hardware: Plug your webcam or USB video capture card into your PC before opening the software.
Launch the program: Open SurveillizCam Lite (it is highly recommended to right-click the desktop shortcut and always choose Run as Administrator).
Detect the camera: The software should automatically scan for and detect your connected video device.
Configure AVI Logging & Motion: Set your preferred local directory for AVI video logging and adjust the motion detection sensitivity sliders to start monitoring.
(Note: The Lite version of this software is completely free but lacks certain advanced capabilities found in the old Pro version, such as native remote web monitoring over a network. All recorded files are saved locally to your hard drive).
