The plot is the sequence of cause-and-effect events that move a story forward. It focuses on action, conflict, and the external journey of the characters. A standard plot follows five major stages:
Exposition: Introducing the characters, setting, and baseline reality.
Rising Action: An inciting incident triggers a conflict, and obstacles make the journey harder.
Climax: The highest point of tension where the main conflict must be resolved.
Falling Action: The immediate aftermath and consequences of the climax.
